The Minister of Health, Dr Ali Haji Adam, and the Minister of State for the Ministry of Health, Dr Maryam Mohamed Hussein, received a delegation from UNICEF at the Ministry’s office today. The delegation was led by the UNICEF Health Adviser for East and Southern Africa, Dr Paul NGWAKUM, and included the Chief Medical Officer of Somalia, Dr Milhia Abdul Kader, and the Immunization Project Manager, Kyandindi Bonny. Dr Abdinasir Mukhtar Ibrahim, Director General of the Ministry, Department Directors and other Ministry Heads were also present during the meeting.
The meeting was an introduction and briefing on UNICEF’s efforts in the nation, particularly in delivering health services; UNICEF works closely with the Ministry of Health and has played a significant role in enhancing the quality of health care in the country. UNICEF promotes the provision of health services and focuses on health services, particularly services for mothers and children.
The Minister of Health complimented UNICEF for their comprehensive help in the provision of health services, particularly in areas where they actively supported the country’s health, such as the well-executed vaccination project, routine immunization, and the Covid-19 vaccine campaign. The selling of cooling systems to increase the cold chain’s storage capacity for various vaccines.
UNICEF also supports the Department of Maternal & Child Health, Strengthening the Health Information System and how to display the data through the system (DHIS2) Nutrition program, which gives additional help to malnourished mothers and children.
